An accident involving two vehicles and three victims including a casualty was reported at KM178.5 of the PLUS North-South Expressway (Southbound) not far from the Alor Pongsu rest and recreation stop earlier today (May 15).
A spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) stated that an emergency call was received at around 4.15pm.
“A squad and a vehicle from the Bagan Serai Fire and Rescue Station were immediately rushed to the scene.
“Upon arrival, it was shown that the Audi car skidded and crashed into a nearby lorry which was transporting poultry.
“During the aftermath, three victims were involved; two from an Audi car and the lorry driver.
”The Audi driver was killed on the spot, while the passenger sustained serious injuries. The lorry driver was minorly injured.
“Preliminary treatments were given to the injured victims and they were handed over to health staff.
“The deceased victim was handed over to the police for further actions,” he explained.
The operation which ended at around 5.16pm was led by Senior Fire Officer II Fauziah Baharuddin.
