The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has restored and upgraded eight bus stops around the city to provide comfort for public transport users.
According to the Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin in a statement dated today (May 18), the works were done in stages which started on March 8 and were completed on April 4.
He added that the locations involved are bus stops at Jalan Raja Musa Aziz, Jalan Raja Ekram, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Raja Ashman Shah, among more.
“In an overall sense, some RM111,860 were utilised for the purpose, which included fixing of roofs, iron barriers and installation of iron handrails for the convenience of the differently abled (OKU),” he explained.
Besides that, the bus stops are coated with anti-rust paint for longer durability and are also installed with solar-powered lights.
Rumaizi further mentioned, MBI plans to upgrade even more bus stops, subject to financial allocation.
“As of date, there are around 193 bus stops under MBI’s management,” he stated.
