The food stalls at the Gunung Semanggol Rest and Service Area (R&R) for both north and southbound directions are open from 8am till 8pm for the purchase of food and beverages through takeaway.
However, dining in at R&R premises is not permitted. According to Syed Mohammed Idid, the Head of Corporate, Community and Public Engagement for PLUS Malaysia, the R&R is open for the convenience of those who are traveling on the highway in compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
It is following the enforcement of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Bagan Serai subdistrict (mukim), Kerian from May 27 till June 9.
“Hence, highway users are reminded to continue complying with the SOPs. In the spirit of #KitaJagaKita (we look out for one another), we hope everyone will register for the COVID-19 vaccination to protect themselves as well as those around them,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, all food and beverages (F&B) premises at other R&R locations along the PLUS Highway are also open from 8am till 8pm for takeaways only. Facilities at the R&R such as public toilets and surau (prayer house) are open 24 hours.
