MBI Conducts Disinfecting Works at Public Markets
Various efforts are being carried out by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, especially in public areas that are at risk of being hotspots.
One of the many efforts being done is the disinfecting works at 19 public markets and a poultry slaughterhouse around Ipoh.
The Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said that the disinfecting work has begun since the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The work is done based on a fixed monthly schedule.
According to Rumaizi, a total of 136 disinfecting activities had been carried out periodically from March till December last year.
“The disinfecting activities are continued from time to time. In addition, a total of 47 disinfecting works were completed at public markets from January 1 till May 31 this year.
“In fact, we disinfected the Simpang Pulai Market this afternoon (June 2),” he mentioned in a recent media statement.
He hopes the initiative implemented by the local authorities (PBT) can help curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
