A developer claimed trial over a charge of fraud at the Ipoh Sessions/Magistrate Court today (June 28).
The accused, Dato’ Chin Yoon Seong, 62, pleaded not guilty in front of Magistrate Mohammad Afifi Mohammad Deen.
The accused was charged with defrauding Lee Wan How of RM400,000 by having him deceived into believing that the accused will be selling his company shares and subsequently motivated him to pay the amount mentioned.
He purportedly committed the offence at Times Square Ipoh on January 6 and 12 in 2017.
The accused was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code. Punishment entails imprisonment of up to 10 years, whipping and a fine.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Afiqah Izzati Mazlan requested for a RM10,000 bail, in which the accused’s lawyer Raam Kumar negotiated for reduction to only RM2,000.
The court set bail at RM3,000 with one surety, while the case was fixed for re-mention on August 11.
