Counters of Government Departments to Open July 1
The government decided that service counters nationwide will operate physically starting July 1.
Chief Secretary, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali explained that the decision was made after assessing the urgent need for government service counters to open based on public feedback.
According to him, the procedures for government service counter operation includes services which could not be done online.
“Besides that, the capacity of counter officers does not exceed 50% while physical attendance is only via scheduled appointments,” he said in a statement today (June 29).
Mohd Zuki added that the head of department must ensure that all standard operating procedures (SOPs) of COVID-19 issued by the National Security Council and Ministry of Health are being adhered to at all times.
It is to balance between optimum service delivery to clients and prevention of COVID-19 transmission at the workplace.
The government service counters have not been operating physically throughout the period of Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan since June 1 with the exception of counters for health service, police station and international entrance gates involving customs, immigration and quarantine.
