Two accidents occurred at the PLUS North-South Expressway (Northbound) near Kuala Kangsar at KM244 and Tapah at KM314, earlier today (July 2).
In the first accident, an emergency call was received at around 7am, after which a squad from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) aided by Meru Raya BBP were dispatched to the location.
“The accident involved an empty 5-tonne lorry and a trailer. The former crashed into the back of the latter which had stopped at the side of the road due to a breakdown.
“The 5-tonne lorry driver sustained injuries, while the trailer driver was unscathed.
“The rescue squad proceeded to remove the injured victim from the crash site and provided preliminary treatment before he was handed over to an on-site ambulance for further actions,” a spokesperson explained.
The operation ended at around 7.50am and was led by Senior Fire Officer II (PBK II) Abdul Aziz Mohd Nor.
In the second accident, a call was received at around 12.16pm. A squad from the Tapah BBP was dispatched to the scene.
“As a result, the vehicle driver succumbed to injuries after being stuck in his seat. The trailer driver, however, was unharmed.
“The squad proceeded to get the deceased victim out using rescue tools.
“His death was subsequently confirmed by an on-site medical officer. The remains were handed over to the police for further actions,” the spokesperson added.
The operation which ended at around 1.30pm was led by PBK II Shaharudin Omar.
