Two houses in Gunung Rapat were severely damaged in a fire that broke out yesterday (July 19).
A spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said that an emergency call was received at around 5.32pm.
“Upon arrival of a squad and a vehicle from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), the C-class house lot of 20×70 sq ft, which is a temporary shared house, had already been destroyed by the fire, having 90 percent of the structure damaged.
“Aided by volunteer fire brigades (PBS) from Pekan Baru, Pasir Pinji, Bercham and Menglembu, the fire was extinguished using two hose reels of 200ft each with two jets.
“The fire was brought under control by 7pm. No victims were involved,” he explained, adding that investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
The operation was led by Senior Fire Officer II (PBK II) Rosli Ibrahim.
