Perak state is now home to three vaccination centres (PPV) housing the Public-Private Partnership COVID-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (PIKAS).
This followed the establishment of the second PPV specially for PIKAS’ usage at Casuarina Convention Centre in Meru Raya, Ipoh, which simultaneously commenced vaccination affairs with the third of its kind at Sapura Energy Fabrication Yard in Lumut on Wednesday (July 21).
According to the Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Saarani Mohamad, the PPV is able to accommodate a vaccination capacity of up to 1,800 doses per day.
“Some 8,519 workers from five registered companies have been receiving their doses here, and this is to continue until July 29.
“Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) has approved 16,000 individuals, especially those from Kinta District, Batu Gajah and Kampar, to receive their jabs.
“Hopefully, more companies from manufacturing sectors will step forward and register with PIKAS to further hasten the rate of vaccination in the state, in order to cease further transmission of the deadly virus.”
He told reporters during a media session after monitoring the workflow of the Casuarina Convention Centre PPV today (July 23).
Also present were the State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim and the Executive Councillor for Industry, Investment and Corridor Development, Dato’ Shahrul Zaman Yahya, among others.
