Adolescents aged 12 to 17 will be receiving their COVID-19 jabs beginning mid-September.
The coordinating minister for the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, Khairy Jamaluddin, confirmed the circular by Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham via a Twitter post on August 13.
The National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) will be giving priority to individuals with comorbidities, while those without underlying medical issues will receive their vaccination later.
In Dr. Noor Hisham’s circular, he also stated that individuals with allergies, a weak immune system and have no anticoagulants are encouraged to conduct a pre-vaccination evaluation.
In addition, Khairy said the inoculation will be done at special vaccination centers (PPV) in schools, clinics and hospitals.
More information regarding the implementation will be announced by the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to COVID-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) next week.
