A total of 153 flood victims from 45 families were evacuated to four temporary relief centres (PPS) in Larut Matang Selama, Kerian and Teluk Intan.
This number was higher compared to the 136 victims from 41 families last night (August 20).
Heavy downpour from yesterday has caused floods in several low-lying areas in three districts while the affected residents were evacuated by fire brigade and rescue teams to PPS.
A spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department said the PPS with the most people was PPS Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Matang with 107 from 33 families.
“They were evacuated from Kampung Sungai Rentaka Matang, Kampung Jabor Kiri, Kampung Changkat Baru and Kampung Malawati.
“Meanwhile, PPS Sungai Baru Public Hall is sheltering 13 residents of Kampung Sungai Nyior from four families while PPS SK Changkat Lobak is sheltering 25 victims from seven families,” he said.
The PPS opened in Teluk Intan is Dewan Sekolah Menengah Smart Batu 4 Jalan Changkat Jong with seven victims from one family evacuated.
