Soup Kitchen Distributes Food Packs to Residents Under COVID-19 Quarantine
The Ipoh City Council (MBI), in collaboration with the Rukun Tetangga Community (KRT) of Taman Harmoni Buntong Flats, took the initiative to start a ‘Soup Kitchen’ programme, providing food packs for families under quarantine due to COVID-19.
MBI Zone 7 (Buntong) Council Member, A Ganesan went on site to help distribute lunch packs to the quarantined individuals outside their respective homes.
The food sponsored under the MBI Prihatin (MBI Cares) programme was cooked through a gotong-royong by the KRT Committee Members (AJK) of Taman Harmoni Buntong Flats.
Secretary of Taman Harmoni Buntong KRT, P Matthew said the programme started on August 28 and the food is distributed twice a day; in the afternoon and at night.
He said that so far, 14 families involving 72 people have received the food packs.
“The purpose of our programme is to prevent those under quarantine from leaving their homes and prevent the spread of the virus.
“This programme will be continued from time to time and we hope that there are parties from any organisation or non-governmental organisation (NGO) who will come forward to help,” he told Ipoh Echo yesterday (September 12).
