The Special Committee on Pandemic Management has agreed to enable interstate travel and the reopening of the tourism hub once the national vaccination rate of the adult population reaches 90%.
Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the matter via a Facebook post today (September 22).
“I believe many cannot wait to return to their homes to meet with family after such a long time. God willing, the 90% target is expected to be achieved in 2 to 3 more weeks only,” he stated.
Besides that, he also announced that the operation hours of grocery shops, restaurants, petrol stations and convenience stores are extended effective tomorrow (September 23) from 6am till 12 midnight.
“Effective October 1, spa, health centre, health message, zoo, aquarium, snorkeling, scuba, fishing and forest parks are allowed to operate for fully vaccinated visitors,” he added.
“The loosened restrictions that we enjoy today are the fruit of our collective sacrifice. I’m confident that with these relaxations, we can recover the nation’s economy. However, we must remain vigilant and take care of ourselves and the Malaysian Family,” he expressed.
