A nanny claimed trial over a charge of attempted murder of a baby at the Ipoh Sessions/Magistrate Court today (September 29).
The accused, Nursahidah Amran, 22, pleaded not guilty in front of Judge Norita Mohd Ardani.
According to charge sheets, she was allegedly found to have slammed and inflicted harm on the head of a seven-month old child, knowing that the action could cause the death of the latter.
She purportedly committed the offence at a house in Taman Desa Pelancongan 2 between 7am to 2.45pm on September 22.
The accused was charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code, whereby if convicted, could be sentenced to imprisonment of up to 20 years.
The court ordered for a RM5,000 bail with one surety, as well as under the condition that the accused is not to harass the witness of the case, while November 30 this year was fixed for re-mention.
The proceedings were conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutors Afiqa Liyana Rozman and Afiqah Izzati Mazlan.
The accused was represented by lawyers Muhamad Syahrul Nizam Mohd Rabi and Mohamad Salihen Astor.
