12MP – Three Main Goals Under MBI
In line with the goals of the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, via the presentation of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), ‘Keluarga Malaysia-Makmur, Inklusif, Mampan’ (A Prosperous, Inclusive and Sustainable Malaysian Family), there are three main goals that also directly involve local authorities such as the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
Ipoh Mayor, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said the objectives are the Second, Eighth and Ninth Goals.
According to him, the Second Goal, ‘Strengthening Catalysts for Growth’, involves measures to accelerate the adoption of technology, and innovative efforts will be focused on digitisation and advanced technologies, including 4IR (Fourth Industrial Revolution) technology.
“Earlier this year, the Government launched the MyDIGITAL agenda, followed by the National 4IR Policy. Policy planning, implementation and monitoring of 4IR initiatives and national digitisation are coordinated through the National Digital Economy Council and 4IR,” he said.
He mentioned this at the MBI Full Board Meeting of September 2021 at the MBI Meeting Hall yesterday (September 30).
In relation to this, he explained that MBI has selected 19 strategic locations for the installation of MBIFREEWIFI, which provides free wifi with speeds between 20Mbps, 100Mbps and 300Mbps.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of October this year with a total cost of RM212,844.55.
Among the locations where MBIFREEWIFI has been installed are:
- Ipoh Tourists Information Center (ITIC) Building
- Surau Seri Palma (Botany)
- Taman Kanak-Kanak Surau (TKK)
- As-Syakirin Mosque (Ulu Kuang)
- Town Hall
- Medan Kidd
- Tambun Community Hall and Library
- 3R (R&R stops for food delivery riders)
- Tapah River Hall
- Raja Perempuan National Secondary School (RPS)
- Kinta Riverside & D R Seenivasagam Recreational Park
- UTC Perak Building
- People’s Park Old Town.
He added that the Eighth Goal is ‘Accelerating Green Growth’, which focuses on creating a carbon-neutral country as early as 2050.
He said MBI is heading towards making Ipoh a ‘Low Carbon City’ by 2030 and among its ‘quick win’ programmes is to implement the ‘Urban Agriculture and Community Gardens’ programme around Ipoh City.
Meanwhile, the Ninth Goal is ‘Improving the Efficiency of Public Service Delivery and Ensuring Effective Policy Implementation’, which is to ensure that the Public Service, the heart of the country’s administration, will continue to be strengthened to increase transparency and efficiency.
“To this end, the civil services will be transformed through a government-wide approach by taking into account that the successful implementation of the initiative requires the involvement of all levels of government.”
