The Ipoh City Council (MBI) will be undertaking a joint venture with four development companies to build a main road connecting Lebuh Chepor Utama 2 in Meru Perdana (near Meru Raya) with Lebuh Klebang Putra in Klebang.
According to the Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, the road proposed for construction will be able to shorten travelling time to and from Klebang and Meru by 20 minutes.
“The existing main passageway between the two places passing through Chemor is always jammed during peak hours.
“As such, the road will indirectly save time for Ipohites, besides spurring development activities for areas involved in the construction, particularly towards businesses in Klebang and Meru.
“A smart partnership will be implemented with the companies to hasten this project, namely Ain Bina Development Sdn Bhd, Satin Tiara Sdn Bhd, Scientex Quatari Sdn Bhd and Total Investment Sdn Bhd.”
He explained this in a media session after signing memorandums of understanding (MoU) with the companies at MBI’s headquarters today (October 6).
Also present were representatives of the companies and MBI City Councillor for Zone 5, Dato’ Azizul Kama Abd Aziz who witnessed the signing sessions.
Rumaizi added that some RM6.4 million was allocated for the project, which includes construction of a bridge over Sungai Klebang and a four-lane (two-way) road of 1.6 km long.
“Through this project, we expect some 1,617 houses and shop lots to be built by developers around the area in five years to come.
“We also expect the state government of Perak and MBI to benefit from this via collection of tax revenues by approximately RM323,000 annually,” he stated.
The project is slated to commence early November this year, lasting 18 months until April 2023.
“We’ll engage in the project in stages,” Rumaizi mentioned.
