November as Malaysian Family Month
By Mei Kuan
Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob launched the Malaysian Family Month today, making November the month to promote and strengthen family institutions as well as the concept of the Malaysian family (keluarga Malaysia).
“The Malaysian family understands, tolerates and loves one another. I’d like to stress on the concept of taking care not only of ourselves, but also other family members. This is the concept applied within the government. It is no longer working as one team, instead it is working as one family,” the Prime Minister stated on his official Facebook page.
He expressed his gratitude to all members of the Malaysian family who are constantly close to his heart.
The celebration of the Malaysian Family Month is organised by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development via the National Population and Family Development Board.
This year, the month focuses on 5 out of the 20 enrichment values of the Malaysian family namely love, moral, physical and mental health, knowledge and harmony which are vital to be instilled in every family member.
“In addition to being celebrated at national-level, the month also features outreach and awareness programmes at state and district levels,” Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development explained during her welcoming speech at the launch held at Perdana Botanical Garden in Kuala Lumpur.
The event was broadcasted live on the Facebook page of the National Population and Family Development Board.
