The Pangkor Sea Challenge 2021 to be held on December 30 and 31 is expected to be joined by 130 participants vying for prizes worth almost RM10,000.
Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin binti Dato’ Mohammed Radzi said the organisation of this kayak endurance water sport event is aimed to revive the tourism industry which was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The water sport to be held at Pasir Bogak Beach of Pangkor will be joined by participants from Persatuan Kayak Negeri, kayak clubs, several public universities and kayak enthusiasts.
“Tourism Perak also contributed tourism vouchers for the winners to add value to the prizes provided.
“We have also identified a total of 80 other events to be included in the state tourism events calendar for the year 2022. The effort is hoped to revive the tourism sector and help boost the state economy,” she said in a media conference yesterday.
Present were Chief Executive of Tourism Perak, Nurmalis Musa; General Manager of Tourism Perak, Zuraida Md Taib and Chairperson of Persatuan Pembangunan Hotel & Resort Pangkor (PPHRP), Mohd Zamzuri Suid.
At the same time, Chairperson of PPHRP, Mohd Zamzuri explained that as of December 15, the organiser has received the confirmation of 60 participations and the number is expected to increase in the near future.
“The water sport event is divided into two categories, namely Men’s Kayak Endurance Singles offering a winning prize of RM400, Women’s Kayak Endurance Singles (RM400), Men’s Kayak Endurance Doubles (RM800), Women’s Kayak Endurance Doubles (RM800) and Mix Kayak Endurance Doubles (RM800).
“The participation fee is RM200 for participants who would like to include a two days one night accommodation package, whereas it is RM100 for participants who wish to enter the competition only,” he added.
