A new Bluetooth feature has been introduced for MySejahtera users whereby they no longer have to check out when leaving particular premises.
According to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Twitter, the new update called MySejahtera Trace (MySJ Trace), will be more efficient as it can provide an accurate tracing of COVID-19 cases and identify close contacts who have also activated the feature.
“How it works is that one will receive live data on how many users they have come in contact with. One can send the interaction data to the Ministry of Health (MOH) for contact tracing if they are tested positive for COVID-19,” he said.
According to NST, all information will be concealed. MySJ Trace does not collect user data and geolocation as it utilises an anonymised Unique User ID (UUID) system.
“All users are encouraged to update their MySejahtera app and activate the new feature, especially when going to public places in indoor settings. Make sure to turn on the Bluetooth for close contact detection.
“The process of data storage and contact tracing is secure and secrecy is guaranteed by the government,” Khairy added.
