A group of scientists in Cyprus claimed to have discovered a new variant of COVID-19, Deltacron, which is a combination of the Delta and Omicron variants.
According to the report by Bloomberg, a professor of biological sciences at the University of Cyprus, Leondios Kostrikis, explained that 25 cases have been detected so far in relation to the variant.
They also found that this variant infected individuals undergoing treatment at the hospital more easily.
“We are researching if this variant is more contagious compared to present variants,” Kostrikis said.
The scientists also reported two different symptoms displayed by patients, which are conjunctivitis (pink eye) and hair fall.
