Several low-lying areas in Bercham were inundated with water due to a flash flood following continuous rain since yesterday evening.
It is understood that the water, which had risen as high as half a metre, caused the affected residents to be transported to a safe location.
According to the operations room of the state fire and rescue department, the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.27pm yesterday.
“The water level is estimated to be half a metre deep and monitoring is being carried out by personnel from the fire and rescue station of Ipoh, aided by the fire and rescue station of Meru Raya,” the statement mentioned.
The surveillance operation is led by Senior Fire Officer II Mahmud Azaddin.
