Homegrown brand, Hovid Berhad has won the Silver Award at the Export Excellence Awards 2021 during a gala dinner at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur recently. Hovid bagged the award in the category of consumer products for mid-tier and large companies.
Present was Michelle Ho, Chief Financial Officer of Hovid Berhad to receive the award.
Running in its second edition, the Export Excellence Awards (EEA) is organised by The Star Media Group in partnership with Standard Chartered Malaysia, with Matrade as a patron.
The award aims to recognise Malaysia’s leading exporters who have contributed to the country’s economy and excelled in delivering Malaysian products abroad.
This is the second time Hovid has received recognition from EEA for its export achievements and success in the international arena.
Hovid has been exporting to overseas markets since the 1980 and it is now Malaysia’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturer of high quality and innovative medicinal preparations and health supplements. It has more than 400 products distributed across 50 countries globally, including Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and part of America.
Its products are manufactured in Ipoh, with two manufacturing plants in Ipoh and Chemor respectively.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been both an opportunity and challenge for Hovid. We see increasing demand for hygiene products and personal protective equipment such as hand sanitisers, disinfectant tables and masks. Yet at the same time, it poses a challenge as the team strives to meet the demand, on top of the challenges of increasing material costs, logistical constraints and the fluctuation of currencies,” shared David Ho, the Managing Director of Hovid Berhad.
The largest pharma exporter in Malaysia will continue to aim for product excellence, zero defect in manufacturing lines and R&D based products to penetrate market segments worldwide.
One significant milestone of the company was the successful human clinical trials conducted on the innovative and high performing product named Tocovid SupraBio.
Tocovid SupraBio contains tocotrienols, a form of vitamin E, extracted naturally from palm oil and encapsulated into pharmaceutical dosage in 1990 with clinically proven medical benefits.
