A total of 1,000 packs of bubur lambuk (spiced congee) was distributed to Ipohites in less than one hour during a programme by the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
Mayor, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said the annual bubur lambuk programme finally resumed after two years of being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The current transition to the endemic phase enables us to resume cooperation in order to make this programme a success like the previous years.
“A total of 200 MBI staff members participated, made up of 20 departments including units and divisions.
“The staff members were divided into five groups. Each group had to prepare a total of 200 packs of bubur lambuk to be distributed to Ipohites,” he said after the distribution in front of the MBI building in the afternoon today.
At the same time, a contest for the prettiest tent was also held to further strengthen teamwork among departments. Marks were given based on creativity, cleanliness, tidiness and teamwork.
According to Rumaizi, the bubur lambuk programme by MBI strengthens camaraderie among departments besides adding some festive cheer.
