AKPK Introduces ‘Leman’ to Drive The Spirit of Aidilfitri
By AKPK Corporate Communications Department
Getting back up and striving towards a better life is a value that should be nurtured at all levels of society, especially during difficult times.
This is the message that Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) wishes to convey through its Public Service Announcement video titled “Tulus” which premiered in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The launch of the AKPK Raya video is also concurrent with AKPK’s celebration of 16 years as an agency of Bank Negara Malaysia established to educate, advise and assist individuals and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in managing their finances and debts.
In support of this mandate, AKPK also communicates positive and constructive values such as gratitude, accountability and the initiative to restore financial stability, using content such as this Raya video on social media as well as traditional media.
“Tulus” tells the story of two orphaned siblings, Leman and his younger sister Liana, who lived with their grandmother. Leman loved her sister dearly and cared for her while she was suffering from an illness. On his grandmother’s advice, Leman carried her sister on foot to the hospital located quite far from their remote village when Liana’s illness worsened on Raya’s eve. However, the journey did not go as planned.
Commenting on the story, AKPK’s Chief Executive Officer, Azaddin Ngah Tasir said, “AKPK hopes that every individual, especially the younger generation, would aspire to take on Leman’s character of being responsible, resilient and mature in facing life’s challenges. Being grateful for what we still have, making a continuous effort to better our lives and making every challenge a catalyst for self-transformation, will bring us from reliance on aid and sympathy to a proactive life that contributes to the well-being of self and the society.”
This is in line with AKPK’s second official tagline that was launched on AKPK’s 16th anniversary on April 17, i.e. “Transforming Financial Reliance to Resilience.” The tagline partners with AKPK’s main tagline, “Make Prudent Financial Management A Way Of Life”, and reiterates AKPK’s commitment to encourage more individuals and SMEs to act and seek assistance from legitimate institutions with the purpose of strengthening their finances.
Since its establishment in 2006 until 31 March 2022, more than 1.2 million individuals have received advisory services from AKPK. And, more than 370,000 of them applied to join AKPK’s Debt Management Programme. More than 41,000 participants have successfully graduated from the Debt Management Programme, settling an outstanding amount of more than RM2 billion.
