Among the various modes of transportation, bicycles are known to be one of the oldest. With many gradually developing a healthy lifestyle, cycling is now deemed a physical activity of recreation to help them keep in good shape.
Malaya Cycles, the local provider of bicycles shared that the demand for bicycles is on an upward track with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.1 percent over the next five years.
Being in business for 12 years since 2010, Malaya Cycles has a wealth of experience in the bike industry, from servicing customers to repairing, maintaining and customising bike fittings for your bicycle.
If you are looking into getting yourself a bike but are unsure of which one will suit your taste, reach out to them! There are a host of choices ranging from trekking bike or hybrid bike, utility bike, mountain bike to touring bike. Co-Founder of the brand, Hashini Radhakrishnan, said the prices start from as low as RM80, and are surely easy on the pocketbook.
How it All Started
“I was actually planning to buy a simple bike that I could use to cycle in the evening but to my dismay, the bicycles around the RM500 range were of substandard quality and even the bicycle shops were pushing for me to get an expensive bike. Noticing the gap in the market, Malaya Cycles is now one of the leading bicycle brands in Malaysia after 10 years.
“According to a report by Fortune Business Insights, the market growth is ascribable to factors such as increasing focus on developing eco-friendly cycles by the manufacturers and the rising incidence of obesity among the population that promotes bicycle riding,” she explained.
Witnessing an expensive trend of bicycles spiralling in the market now, Hashini and the team are driven to assemble the bicycle locally with great attention to detail and constantly upgrade the process to cater to the ever-changing bicycle market.
They believe offering affordable bicycles will ignite the sparks of passion for cycling among the community. She also mentioned that many who cycle around the neighbourhood or on city roads on the weekends also use the bicycles as an alternative transportation to the workplace.
“Our mission and vision are to set the bar for what a bicycle should be. Malaya Cycles provides adequate quality and more affordable bicycles. We also include a fantastic after-sales service to support you with your purchase.
“While also offering bike accessories for low end and mid range bikes such as Shimano, Sensah and more, we are committed to continuously improving our after-sales service to our valued customers,” she said.
Malaya Cycles has gained a reputation all over Malaysia and the bikes are supplied to Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore.
