Perak will proceed to implement the method of cloud seeding even though the water level at the Bukit Merah Dam at Bagan Serai has increased a little compared to before.
Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad said cloud seeding needed to be carried out as the dam does not have sufficient water source like other lakes.
“If there is no rain or water at the dam for irrigation supply, it will eventually dry up.
“Thus, we have to be prepared by always making sure there is water stored.
“Due to the dry weather, cloud seeding is still necessary.
He said so to the media after attending the recent meet-the-client programme by the state government at the Indera Mulia Stadium.
To date, the official portal of Public Infobanjir stated the water level of the dam at 6.82 metres, with the normal reading being 8.68 metres.
It was reported earlier that the state government will carry out cloud seeding to overcome the issue of water level at the dam which has dropped.
It was following the report made by the Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Plantation and Food Industry, Razman Zakaria at the recent exco meeting.
According to Saarani, the state government will try to provide the needed allocation for cloud seeding as highlighted by Razman in order to help the farmers in the area.
