The Ministry of Domestic Trade And Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) of Perak seized counterfeit products in the form of women’s shoes and children’s shoes worth RM87,979 after raiding a shopping centre along Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil yesterday.
Director of KPDNHEP of Perak, Saifullizan Kamarul Zaman stated that the action was taken following complaints and information received from representatives of trademark owners.
According to him, the operation began at 10.30am and during the raid, a male owner of the premises and a female employee were present on site.
“Inspection was done together with the business owner and representative of complainants. Preliminary identification by the complainant also found that all the products were counterfeits based on the features of the items,” he said via a statement on Thursday.
Saifullizan added that further inspection found 1,245 units of shoes for women and girls of various patterns, sizes and colours, branded with famous trademarks.
“Besides that, there were 800 units of plastic bags with labels of famous brands.
“The 800 units of stickers of famous brands and several business documents were seized for further investigation.
He stated that the employee and business owner were detained to assist the investigation.
Investigation is being conducted under Section 102 (1) (c) of the Trademarks Act 2019.
He also reminded all traders to always abide by the enforced law especially by not selling counterfeit products.
