Second Series of E-Waste Coming in June

The Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud praised the cooperation and good response from everyone during the E-Waste collection activity in May.

He said E-Waste collection activities in five locations around the Ipoh City Council (MBI) recorded a total weight of 3.8 metric tonnes on May 21 to 22. Up until May 14, a total of 29.5 metric tonnes was collected.

“Well done and congratulations to all Council Members and the Residents Relations Committee (JPP) as well as city residents who have participated in E-Waste collection activities last month.

“MBI hopes this momentum continues in June in five parliamentary constituency locations that have been announced on all social media and MBI portals and the Department of Environment (DOE). The locations have been approved by the DOE.

“Collection time starts at 8.00am till 1.00pm every Saturday and Sunday of the 3rd week of every month until November 30. For June it will be held on June 18 and 19 (Saturday and Sunday)”, he said in a statement today.

The five E-Waste collection locations are Pusat Rukun Tetangga, Bercham; Jelapang Public Hall; Pasir Pinji Community Hall; Rapat Setia (night market area) and Dewan Padang Lintau Rukun Tetangga, Manjoi.

People are welcome to bring E-Waste waste such as laptops, computers, mobile phones, refrigerators, air-conditioners, washing machines and other electrical or electronic equipment (excluding used lights and used batteries) to be exchanged for cash.

Each entry has the opportunity to participate in a lucky draw prize of cash amounting to RM10,000.00.
