Ipoh Hobby Fest: Mini Edition Held at Indera Mulia Stadium
In conjunction with the E-Sports Tournament for the Ipoh Mayor’s Cup which we’ve covered previously, an Ipoh Hobby Fest: Mini Edition is also being held at Indera Mulia Stadium on July 23 and 24, from 9am to 5.30pm for both days.
Working with the Ipoh City Council to organise the event, Harizal Bin Mat, who owns the HRZL Diecast Division hobby store located in Medan Kidd Ipoh, said that this event was to gather all the hobbyists in Ipoh, and would not only include sellers from KL, Johor, Penang and Kedah, but even those from Singapore and Indonesia as well.
Upon walking into the event area, I was appropriately greeted by the chorus from Metallica’s Master of Puppets, booming from the speakers. But the hard metal music was juxtaposed by what was laid out on the table set up right by the entrance of the event. A selection of beautiful dioramas from the Facebook TemanLer Garage, that evoke rustic feelings of nostalgia.
As this event is a ‘mini edition’, it isn’t the largest collection of collectors you’ll find, but it is surprisingly varied in the wares on offer. There are plenty of cheaper toys that parents can buy for their children, from cute Chibi Dragon Ball figurines to Sofubi of Tokusatsu characters.
But for those with a keen eye, they’ll spot some rarities such as the original Kenner Aliens and even MASK figures in pristine and non-yellowed condition.
And of course, there are plenty of Hot Wheels and assorted parts as well.
