The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) in the state of Perak seized 1,000 litres of diesel oil from a lorry amounting to RM45,850 after cracking down on the fraudulent activity in at a gas station on Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah yesterday.
The Director of Perak KPDNHEP, Saifullizan Kamarul Zaman said the activities were detected as a result of daily monitoring carried out at petrol stations around Ipoh.
He said, the operation that started at about 2.30, detected a lorry with a canvas cover filling up with diesel fuel at the petrol station, he said.
“Further inspection of the lorry found that there were four fibre tanks suspected of containing diesel oil stored inside the truck.
“The original lorry oil tank channel had been modified and connected with the four fibre tanks.
“The inspection found that the 24-year-old truck driver did not have any valid documents or permits to buy diesel fuel,” he said in a statement today.
His party also suspects that the lorry collects diesel fuel by filling up at several stations before selling it to the industry.
“Accordingly, the Perak KPDNHEP team of officers had taken action by confiscating almost 1,000 litres of diesel oil from the lorry in question at that location.
“This case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 and the Supply Control Regulations 1974,” he said.
People and oil station operators are reminded that any party who wants to buy petrol and diesel for purposes other than filling up inside vehicles must obtain a Special Permit issued by KPDNHEP.
