An Unidentified Body Found On Rumbia Island
The Perak Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) found an unidentified body at a position of 6.5 nautical miles northwest of Rumbia Island yesterday.
Perak Maritime Director, Captain Mohd Hambali Ya’akup said that the boat, Maritime Perkasa 1223, had been dispatched to the location to confirm the information received about the discovery of a body by local fishermen in the waters.
“The body was found at about 7.55am on Tuesday, as a result of inspection and patrolling at the location, one body is suspected to be a man wearing shorts and a yellow singlet, but no identification documents were found.
“The body was taken to Kampung Acheh Fishing Jetty before being handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to him, MMEA Perak has not yet received any reports about missing persons at sea.
He also requested that any individual who lost a family member or relative to immediately come to the nearest police station to help with the investigation.
He also said that MMEA reminded the maritime community not to go to sea in case of bad weather and prioritise safety by always wearing a life jacket when doing activities in the country’s waters.
