Since the announcement of its opening two years ago, many people in and outside of Perak have been clamouring to visit the gallery of the world renowned cartoonist, Lat.
The gallery is located in the Silverlakes Premium Outlet area in Batu Gajah which is being developed and will be an attraction for visitors when it opens later.
Known as the Rumah Lat Dan Galeri (Lat House and Gallery), it brings together all the works and art of Lat, or as he is known by his real name, Dato’ Mohammad Nor Mohammad Khalid.
Accordingly, on 29 August, there was a signing ceremony of the Rumah Lat Dan Galeri management agreement between the Perak Museum Board and Rumah Lat Sdn. Bhd.
This agreement was signed between the Secretary of the State Government of Perak, Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim and Dato’ Lat at the Office of the Secretary of the State Government of Perak.
Earlier, on August 22, a Tour of the Completed Project for the Development of the Rumah Lat Dan Galeri was held.
It was attended by the Divisional Secretary, Infrastructure Development Division of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Mohd Khairul Kassim.
Lat’s house not only resembles the shape of the original house where he was born, but the design of Rumah Lat is indeed as drawn in the comics.
