Authorities have successfully busted a well-known counterfeit sports equipment operation in Teluk Intan.
The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) held a raid by a team of enforcement officers, led by Chief District Enforcement Officer, Mohd Badrul Hisham Ahmad Alias at a business premises in the Anson Industrial Estate.
The director of KPDNHEP Perak, Saifullizan Kamarul Zaman said, the operation at 12.40 in the afternoon was the result of two weeks of intelligence gathering on the premises.
According to him, the results of the inspection found that the premises is a business warehouse that sells clothing, equipment and martial arts sports equipment of well-known brands suspected to be counterfeit, online. KPDNHEP Teluk Intan has confiscated well-known branded martial arts clothing, equipment and sports equipment worth RM80,192.
“We have arrested three local men in their 30s, two workers and a business owner during this investigation.
“Based on preliminary investigations, the company has been operating for two years and were obtaining their supply from China,” he said in a statement today.
The selling price of each item starts from RM7 up to RM49 and the profits obtained reached RM34,000 per month.
The case is being investigated under Section 102 (1) (c) of the Trademark Act 2019.
