Perak FC are developing new strategies through cooperation with Bundesliga club, Wolfsburg FC, in improving the quality of domestic football.
Perak FC chairman, Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi said the year-long collaboration involved the development of young players, technology exchange and the sale of souvenirs.
“Both teams agreed to develop the club, which includes sending coaches and players during the pre-season to the training camp.
“The collaboration will also give the Perak FC team an opportunity to undergo a pre-season training session with the club which is currently 13th in the Bundesliga.
“Wolfsburg is a successful global brand and there are many things that Perak FC can learn from this collaboration, especially regarding grassroots development, which is the main thing we emphasise.
“We also want to take inspiration in various fields including regarding technical matters, club administration, the business field as well as information sharing involving sponsor sales that we can learn from Wolfsburg,” he said when interviewed after the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between Perak FC and Vfl Wolfsburg yesterday.
Meanwhile, during Wolfsburg Senior President Andreas Kruse’s visit to Perak Stadium, he said Wolfsburg’s coaching staff would also be brought to Perak to teach the players about European football training methods.
“We chose to work with Perak because this club is ambitious and has its own history like us. In addition, Perak FC is the first club in Southeast Asia to establish a partnership with a Bundesliga club.
“The first time I had the opportunity to visit the Perak Stadium, I was so excited to see the Perak Stadium which looked big and majestic and even the basic facilities provided were in good condition,” said Kruse.
