Yayasan Ipoh To Host Science Meets Society
Yayasan Ipoh in Bercham, will be hosting a community outreach programme entitled: Science Meets Society: Integrating Food, Gene and Population on October 30, from 9 am to 4:30 pm. There are no age restrictions to this event and all are invited.
In addition to ceremonial activities to be held at Yayasan Ipoh’s Hall, including a keynote lecture on “Eat for Your Genes: Hype or Hope?”; the public can enjoy a flurry of exhibitions and activities, on top of checking out some of the facilities available at Yayasan Ipoh, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and services to help those with autism.
These exhibitions will cover topics such as Body Mass Index checks and Blood Pressure checks, as well as nutrition and ageing. There will be fun games and contests, such as the nutrition ring game and 1 Minute Fitness Challenge to pump yourself up and bond with your family.
This event is organised by the British Council, alongside the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MiGHT), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), University of Reading and the Nutrition Society of Malaysia, who will man the booths for the exhibitions on display.
CEO of Yayasan Ipoh, Dato’ Dr Ramanathan Ramiah, said that the topics of the event were very timely, and that Yayasan Ipoh was very happy to lend its hand when approached by the event organisers.
