Jelapang residents are invited to celebrate at the Deepavali Open House Carnival
The Jelapang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Deepavali Open House Carnival will be held for two consecutive nights to enliven the arrival of the festival of lights.
It is organised by the Jelapang Assemblyman Service Centre in collaboration with several parties including sponsors.
Jelapang assemblyman, Cheah Pou Hian, said the open house will be held at Jalan Rishah Raya grounds in the evenings, at Taman Rishah Raya, Jelapang on October 21 and 22.
According to him, the ceremony was organised as a sign of appreciation to the people of Jelapang after the country was hit by the pandemic two years earlier.
“The programme on the first night is traditional, there will be dance and cultural performances of various races as well as entertainment performances.
“The programme will start at 6pm with a musical performance before the actual ceremony begins.
“The meal, which will start at 7.30pm, will be prepared by the catering department. The food is Indian cuisine according to the occasion,” he said at the Jelapang State Assembly Deepavali Open House Carnival press conference at his office.
Also present was Batu Gajah Member of Parliament, V. Sivakumar.
The carnival will be attended by Perak DAP Chairman, Nga Kor Ming who is also the Member of Parliament for Teluk Intan.
The event on the second night will be more entertaining with the performance of guest artists Dhillip Varman and Punitha.
According to Pou Hian, his party expects the presence of around 800 visitors including people of various races around Jelapang.
“Two years ago, I planned to hold a Deepavali carnival but due to the pandemic we could not organise anything.
“This is also a sign of appreciation to the Jelapang state assembly community and I hope the ceremony goes smoothly,” he said.
