Bringing a burst of life to the sleepy town of Ipoh whilst elevating the arts and culture scene, “Riuh Benor” promises Perak’ites an immersive experience during the three – day creative fest here this weekend.
Inspired by Nuovo pop-up markets around the globe, ‘Riuh’ was specifically set up as a platform to bridge the gap between the creative community and the public. Through creative endeavours, ‘RIUH’ has since become a popular cultural and arts movement in Malaysia.
Led by MyCreative Ventures Group, an agency under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOMM), Kembara RIUH Keluarga Malaysia was set up to promote and strengthen the local creative industry.
Speaking to CEO of MyCreative Group, Mr. Junady Nawawi, he encourages the people of Perak to come out this weekend, “Bring your family and friends and enjoy the events planned”. ‘RIUH BENOR’ will be in town and bringing with it cultural shows, music and dance performances, art exhibitions, pop-up shops, community activities and creative workshops.
Visitors can also enjoy special live performances by popular Malaysian artistes such as Jaclyn Victor, TUJULOCA, Ning Baizura, Ruffedge and many more.
Various interesting programmes have been planned for the three-day carnival, which aims to give visitors the opportunity to see first-hand; local creative products, enjoy various food and beverage sales, cultural performances, visual art exhibitions and attend creative workshops such as making concrete leaf pots, perfume, rope to hang plants, making soy wax candles and dyeing hats. The event is open to the public and there is something for everyone.
“This is part of MyCreative Ventures’ strategy, to promote and elevate the local arts and creative industry, as well as revive the economy and boost the tourism sector. In addition to this we are also here to support the creative industry practitioners whose livelihoods were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“We pay attention to the brands and vendors. The brands are almost always local and most are small with only an online presence. Their products are made in-house which makes them exclusive to those who attend” explained Junady.
Judging by its previous success stories, ‘Riuh’ has certainly paved the way to a new and fresh retail experience for the whole family.
Don’t fret if it rains, the organisers have ensured that there will be umbrellas, ponchos and picnic mats available, though feel free to bring your own.
See you all there!
