A woman died while another was injured in a house fire in Kampung Teluk, near a supermarket today.
A spokesperson for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, said that they received a call regarding the incident at 5.42am.
He said, firefighters from Bagan Serai Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) with the help of BBP Kuala Kurau rushed to the scene of the incident.
“The fire involved a class B house measuring 12×20 that burned 20 percent.
“There were two female victims involved, one was confirmed dead by the ambulance and the other was injured,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
He also said that the firemen put out the rest of the fire by using an auxiliary stream of water from the machinery tank until the fire was completely extinguished.
In the meantime, he said, the deceased was handed over to the police for further action.
The operation led by Senior Fire Officer II, Zakaria Mustapha, ended at 7.30am.
