Special Deepavali contribution, cheer up 50 MBI staff

In conjunction with the Deepavali festival, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) is giving a special donation to 50 Indian employees.

The mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said this year’s Deepavali celebration is more meaningful and lively because all races can celebrate it in a festive atmosphere, such as before the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.

“Following the Covid-19 pandemic that hit the country two years ago, where all festivals were celebrated in a bland and joyless manner; plus the economic factor has severely affected the atmosphere as well.

“Thus, MBI has taken the initiative to create the MBI Prihatin Programme, which was implemented since the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“More than RM3 million has been spent to help ease the burden of residents, traders, members and former members of MBI in continuing their lives, after being affected by the pandemic, and now the endemic situation of Covid-19 that continues to this day.

“It is hoped that the recipients of this donation will be able to help prepare for Deepavali, which should be celebrated with family and friends,” he said.

Also present were Head of WHIP MBI Councillor, Clr. A. Ganesan, Clr. S. Jaya Ganesh, Clr. G. Thilak Raj Gunasekaran, Clr. Abu Bakar Hussian, MBI Council Member and MBI Department Head.
