Solidarity lightens grief, during this Deepavali
This year’s Deepavali celebration brought deep meaning to 454 Hindu students at SMK Sri Puteri, Ipoh.
But the joy was not in the heart of B.Archanaa Thiviea Raj, 17, a fifth form student who had just lost her father on 15 October 2022.
B.Archanaa Thiviea Raj felt that the loss of her father dealt a great blow to the family who had been relying on her late father. The second child of six siblings appreciates the support of friends and the school for their family.
“I am so touched. I didn’t think friends and school were so concerned about us siblings who just lost our father.
“The support and encouragement given by my friends cured my sadness to some extent, but Deepavali just reminds me of my father.
“Thank you also to SMK Sri Puteri for donating to us as a family in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration. Although this year, I won’t be celebrating Deepavali, but the contribution of this raya money will be kept for future use,” she said when interviewed at the Deepavali Celebration Ceremony at SMK Sri Puteri last Friday.
This Deepavali celebration ceremony, in line with the slogan My School is Prosperous and the Practice of Loving Teachers, energizes SMK Seri Puteri for this year’s Deepavali celebration.
This bright and colorful festival also gives light and hope to the less fortunate students.
The donations that were successfully collected by the school and PIBG were presented to the students, most of whom are from the B40 group.
