A Magical Sensurround Music Experience in Ipoh
Award Winning All Suite Resort, The Haven Resort Ipoh proudly brought us “The Haven Musical Extravaganza” in collaboration with the Selangor Symphony Orchestra and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture. Held over three nights; 27th, 28th and 29th of October 2022. Guests and music enthusiasts enjoyed their luxurious accommodation and a night of live music and gastronomy amidst the lush setting of this glorious resort.
As a first-of-its-kind ‘Sensurround’ experience, resort guests could choose to enjoy the concert either at the garden by the lake, the Amphitheatre or from the comfort and privacy of the balconies in their unit. Albeit the all-day downpour, the concert continued to mesmerize more than 300 guests with the very spirit of the forest, rain, or shine.
The Selangor Symphony Orchestra (SS0) played popular orchestral repertoires with music
carefully selected to inspire and captivate the audience from all walks of life. This 40-piece orchestra is performed under the baton of (Ipoh born) Eugene Pook, currently Music Director and Conductor of the SSO and principal of the Eugene Pook Orchestra Academy.
Also on the program were special guest performances by renowned international mezzo-soprano Jiayao Sun from China, the mesmerizing international violinist Dr Hyungi Kim from Korea and our very own homegrown hero, Asyraf Farhan Adi Zairi. Pieces from The Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera, and Kitaro, as well as enchanting works by the SSO resonated throughout the resort.
As a treat, 20 adorable children from Estee Pook Academy sang melodiously for the audience and was later paired with Jiayao Sun to render The Haven Song.
The Haven is situated on the edge of a virgin forest, with an ever-flowing lake and a 280-million-year-old limestone as its backdrop. Thanks to mother Gaia, the scene was already set for a mesmerizing evening. Music emanated from the floating stage on the lake, coloured lights danced from the limestones to the water giving life to everything that would normally be asleep at this time. The experience was a surreal one, to say the least.
Speaking to Mr Peter Chan C.E.O and brainchild of The Haven, this event was Inspired by the annual Sarawak Rainforest Music Festival.

We hope that this musical extravaganza will be a catalyst for many more events that will promote Ipoh as the City of Limestone, Music, and Arts.” said Peter, passionately.
The Haven Music Extravaganza is the first of many more to come. With its one-of-a-kind location, specially curated offerings and future expansion plans, its aim is to champion Perak and Malaysian tourism and boost the local economy by attracting tourists from all over the globe.
