The Rotary Club of Greentown, in cooperation with the Perak Department of Education and Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta (HBUK), organised a two day, Train the Trainer – Teachers Making a Difference Workshop at MH Hotel earlier this week.
The seminar saw the attendance of nearly 60 participants, teachers and representatives from the Department of Education, receive a discourse on topics regarding mental well-being. Representatives from HBUK, such as Dr. Farah Ahmad, a consultant psychiatrist from HBUK and Dr. Rakesh Rampal, a medical officer also from HBUK, gave talks on mental well-being. They discussed the importance of mental health among students and even talked about how social media is a modern medium of social interaction.
President of the Rotary Club of Greentown, Sangari Krishnan and Organising Chairman, Francis Vijeyaselvan, noted that coming off a two year hiatus due to Covid-19, this is their 8th organisation of this event. This isn’t the only such contribution to the community that they’ve done however, as earlier in the year, they had organised the donation of nearly 2500 pairs of socks to over 1100 students and arranged for the installation of facilities for a Fitness Park. It’s also not their first collaboration with HBUK either, as they had jointly organised a 25km World Mental Health Day commemorative walk back in October 2018. A timely event, given that the pandemic would hit the world in a little over a year later.
