Ipoh Car Free Day November 2022

A total of 1,500 people attended the Ipoh Car Free Day (ICFD) monthly event which took place at Persiaran Bandaraya, Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil today.
The mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud said the seventh ICFD event featured the theme of World Children’s Day, which is celebrated on November 20 every year.
“In conjunction with this World Children’s Day, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) must make it a priority to support, promote and celebrate children’s rights as a new generation that is an asset to the country.
“Last October, the ICFD programme could not be implemented due to the 15th General Election. However, this morning, the programme continued with various activities that benefited the citizens of Ipoh in particular.
“A total of 150 participants made up of the children of MBI staff have successfully completed several events this morning, among them a game of short shrift and a children’s Taekwondo group performance,” he told the media after the Ipoh Jom Malaysia Fun Run 5KM release event, which was attended by 200 participants.
Meanwhile, a total of 60 children aged 3 to 14 years presented Taekwondo martial art techniques under coach Saiful Baharin Abdul Majid who is also a retired MBI member.
ICFD was also enlivened with aerobics, free intelligence screenings and exhibitions from various departments and agencies.
According to Rumaizi, the ICFD programme aims to increase awareness among citizens about the importance of environmental protection.
“MBI hopes that with increasing awareness, the citizens of Ipoh will become a community that always practises a green and low-carbon lifestyle and at the same time, we move toward achieving the vision of becoming a Low Carbon City by 2030.
