A total of 23 residents from four families in Lorong Mesra, Changkat Jong, were transferred to the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) of Dewan Padang Tembak last night.
This is following a flash flood incident in the area due to continuous heavy rain since the afternoon on Monday.
A spokesperson for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak said that they received a call regarding the incident at 8.20pm.
“Members from the Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the scene of the incident and found that there had been a flash flood at the location.
“The firemen also helped in the process of moving all the victims affected by the flood to the PPS.
“The operation to remove the victims was carried out using a four-wheel drive vehicle until all were safely moved,” he said in a statement at midnight last night.
According to him, monitoring operations will be carried out from time to time to ensure the situation is controlled and safe.
The operation led by Senior Fire Officer II Abdul Hazhar Ismail ended at 11pm.
