The school holiday season marks the beginning of another kind of season for children, the circumcision ceremony.

In the past, the parents or family would hold a thanksgiving feast, however the situation has changed now but the celebration of the child is still done.

Ar-Ridzuan Hospital, for example, took the initiative to organise a celebration ceremony in conjunction with the Circumcision Programme which was held throughout the December school holiday season.

In a statement, Ar-Ridzuan Hospital said that about 120 children were involved this time.

“Around 250 people attended, including family members, at the celebration ceremony which was held last week, enlivening the atmosphere on the day in question.

“These children are celebrated with a mass procession with the beating of rattles and ending with a bath from a fire hose,” said the statement.

Out of this number of children, however, only 36 were circumcised on the day in question.

The rest will be circumcised on other days throughout December.
