By Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali

The Ipoh City Council’s (MBI) desire to improve the quality of the city’s health and cleanliness has been furthered through the donation of free trash cans.

A total of 741 units of rubbish bins have been distributed to the residents of Ipoh Garden East involving as many as five lorries at Ipoh Garden East (Lebuh Perajurit 3).

Ipoh Mayor, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said the cleanliness campaign will be mobilised throughout the East Ipoh Park area.

“This campaign aims to encourage the community to be more responsible for environmental cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

“After handing over the trash cans in Zone 13, monitoring will continue to be carried out to ensure that this area of Ipoh Garden East sets a good example.

“To make Ipoh the Prosperous City and the Cleanest City in Malaysia, it is not enough to just provide services, infrastructure and public facilities to the community.

“The public needs to be educated to change towards a life that cultivates cleanliness and care for the environment,” he told Ipoh Echo after the 120 Litre Trash Can Delivery Programme from house to house today.

Also present were Canning assemblyman, YB Jenny Choi Tsi Jen, and Ipoh East Member of Parliament, YB Howard Lee Chuan How.

Rumaizi is also confident that this programme is able to create shared responsibility and give birth to a society that prioritises cleanliness and the beauty of the environment.

“Hopefully this programme will be a starting point to achieve the goal of making Ipoh the Cleanest City in Malaysia in 2023 and a Prosperous City in 2030.
