A total of 107 City Council (MBI) retirees were celebrated in a Remembrance Ceremony held at Casuarina@Meru Hotel, yesterday.
They consist of 83 compulsory retirees, one retired due to health problems, 11 optional retirees and 12 who died in the past year represented by their next of kin.
The mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud, said the event was organised as a sign of MBI’s appreciation and gratitude to all retirees.
“This ceremony is MBI’s recognition and remembrance to the retirees who have worked to make MBI one of the best Local Authorities and Ipoh one of the cleanest cities in Malaysia.
“MBI would like to thank you for your service and sacrifice throughout your service with MBI.
“For me, the devoted service of the retirees over the years in sacrificing time and energy cannot be evaluated with just a dinner party.
“Their devoted contributions have undeniably helped the excellence of MBI and set an example for MBI staff who are still serving,” he said.
Also present were City Secretary and Pensioner Representative, Zuraina Kamarul Ariff, City Secretary, Ahmad Munir Ishak, Council Member, Senior Director and Head of MBI Department.
