The Perak State Health Department (JKNP) have reported that a total of 87 notices for offences under Section 32B have been issued against individuals who smoke in prohibited areas around the state of Perak.
A series of operations related to the enforcement of the law under the Tobacco Products Control Regulations 2004 (PPKHT 2004) have been carried out by Environmental Health Officers as well as Assistant Environmental Health Officers in the State of Perak as well as Authorised Officers in all districts within the State of Perak.
According to JKNP’s statement, the operation which went from 14 to 18 January 2023 was carried out to ensure community compliance with the ban on smoking in non-smoking areas and the ban on the sale of tobacco products to minors.
“It also involves the failure to affix smoking ban signs in prohibited areas and other offences under the PPKHT 2004.
“Several premises that have been issued notices for not complying with the ban are Hilir Perak (6); Muallim (2); LMS (13); Manjung (45); Kampar (12) and Kerian (9).
“Enforcement activities will continue to be enhanced and the community is asked to always comply with the ban”, said the statement.
