Truck caught fire, driver safe

A man survived after the cab of the mixed iron trailer he was driving suddenly caught fire at kilometre 253.7 of the North-South Highway, northbound today.

A spokesperson for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak said that they received a call regarding the incident at 9.13 am.
“Members from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) assisted by Meru Raya BBP rushed to the scene of the incident and found that the cab of the trailer was 70 percent burnt.
“However, the lorry driver did not suffer any injuries and was able to save himself,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
He also said the firemen used two streams of hose reels from the machine’s water tank until the fire was successfully extinguished.
The operation led by Senior Fire Officer II Rosli Alang Ahmed ended at 10.48 am.
