The fresh chicken priced at RM6 was a hit with visitors and 1,000 chickens were sold out at the Pasar Tani Mesra on the grounds of the Indera Mulia Stadium today.
This cheap sale is held in conjunction with the Perak State Government’s programme, Meeting the Customers Day (Hari Mesra Bertemu Pelanggan) which lasts for two days until tomorrow.
This Farmer’s Market (Pasar Tani Mesra) is coordinated by Yayasan Bina Upaya Darul Ridzuan in collaboration with the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC).
Visitors only need to spend RM25 at Perak Mobile Store (KBNP) to be eligible to buy fresh chicken at this special price.
More interesting is that all KBNP sales are given a 10 percent discount covering various daily necessities.
Also up for grabs are grade-A fresh chicken eggs when 2,000 smooth boards are purchased by customers.
A customer, Atikah Samsung, said that the cheap sale is very helpful for middle-income families and can save money.
She said that she did not pass up the opportunity to buy essential items such as chicken at the price of RM6.
“This is a good initiative by the Perak government to ease the burden on the people,” she said.
Private employee, Fatah Osman said, he found out about this cheap sale through advertisements on social media.
“I am willing to postpone buying kitchen items just to come here.
“I bought things and was able to save a lot, including buying cheap chicken and eggs,” he said.
Earlier, the opening ceremony of this programme was completed by the Chairman of the State Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee, Dato’ Mohd Zolkafly Harun.
He also completed the handing over of the Perak State Rice Infrastructure and Development Assistance Fund under the Perak SADC initiative and the Perak State Department of Agriculture.
